5 Beginner Steps To Market Your Product on Instagram
Creating and launching a new product is very exciting, but along with that comes the task of marketing your product. Instagram and all of its new features have made it much easier to showcase and spread the word about your new product. There are stories, stand alone photos, carousel albums, Instagram lives and the latest IG TV.
Let’s say (after all the excitement and all the hard work) you finally shared your new product at an event with influencers and had a couple of sales. Did you know that you now have almost 3 months worth of content to share? Here are five ways you can pull content from those who have already tested and/or purchased your product.
For this launch we will assume that the Instagram account you want to grow is a new one; it may be an account you created exclusively for your product. Now you might be thinking, “How am I going to share this new product with a larger audience and how do I get that larger audience to purchase and review my product?” Get ready to move fast because like with any good story, you're going to want to tell your consumers the story of your product and how it came to be!
Here are five ways to introduce your product on Instagram:
Share an image of your logo or product with a caption explaining its purpose and who it is for. Remember, your product is solving a pain point or creating a new way to facilitate something
Utilize Instagram stories’ video feature to share how your product functions. Reach out to your customers for testimonials of your product and invite them to share your product under its unique hashtag for you to re-share to your Instagram profile or stories. Keep in mind, Instagram stories are only up for 24 hours, if you choose them to be. Don’t forget to share the announcement of your new product to your own account and with friends and family.
Another great way to market your product is with the carousel feature, sharing images and videos that show the benefits of your product. In the caption share how to use it and ask “Did you know” questions. One of my favorites is a graphic with the words that tell the benefits of your product. For example, let's say you launch a product that will help give you a much needed break from your smartphone. You create a list of the benefits of the product; one of them is, How to enjoy life outside of your phone. Now, proceed to list off a few ways that you can enjoy life outside of your phone. One of them being Conversations with a friend. You can turn that last phrase into a quote card and invite people to have a conversation around how they take a break from their phones.
Do you recall your very first customers and how excited they were that they shared an image of your product? You'll want to reach out to them. You can do this by direct messaging them and letting them know how much you loved their picture, while expressing gratitude to them for being a part of your mission. Make sure you're being sincere about this; you want to build a community as well as long-lasting customers. Now, you can utilize these pictures and re-share them on your account, giving these customers credit and allowing new customers to see the benefits of utilize your product.
This leads me to my final and most exciting piece of content, the behind-the-scenes, if you will. You're going to want to continue sharing with your customers and community how this product is evolving. Let's say this is a product that has different phases, maybe it's a skin-care line, maybe it’s planner, maybe it’s a list of ways to keep you away from your smartphone, because we all know we need a break. This brings me to Instagram lives and Instagram videos. Each of these gives you an easy way to share the behind-the-scenes while also inviting your community to share questions and receive answers about what's to come.
There you go! You've now created three months worth of content and you're on your way to building a community around your new product. Congratulations, I can't wait to see what you create! Feel free to tag me in your post so that I can support you as well.
